5 home remedies to treat acne
One word that every teen hates – pimples.
Teenage can be a tricky age, because your body is undergoing tremendous changes, and pimples happen to be part of those changes. All the extra hormones that your body produce tend to clog your pores.
Most children just pop their pimples. They shouldn’t, because it might leave scars behind, and it will definitely leave more pus behind which in turn will lead to more pimples on your face.
Here are a few easy to make home-made remedies with ingredients that can easily be found at home –
#1 Cinnamon and honey mask
Strange as it may sound, this combination works well on pimples. Cinnamon is naturally rich with antimicrobial properties, which means that it can prevent an outbreak of bacteria on your skin. Honey acts as a natural antibiotic. Use honey and cinnamon powder in the ratio of 2:1.
First, wash your face with water and pat it dry. Blend the cinnamon and honey till they form a smooth paste, and then apply that mask on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes. It is a sticky mixture, so make sure that you wash it properly.
#2 Papaya Mask
Papaya is an all-natural acne remedy. It actually contains papain (an enzyme) which naturally prevents pus from forming on your skin.
Cut up half (or a quarter) a papaya, peel its skin and mash the papaya to a consistency which you can apply on your skin. Leave it there for 20 to 30 minutes, and wash it off with warm water. For those with dry skins, they might need to moisturize their skin.
#3 Milk and honey paste
Milk helps soothe irritate skin, bringing down the redness on the skin as well. You can use any variety of milk except skimmed milk. Mix equal quantities of milk and honey. Adjust accordingly to bring the paste to a consistency that you like, and then apply it to your face.
Leave it on the face for 20 minutes, and then remove it with a wet ball of clean cotton.
#4 Honey and Strawberry Face Mask
Strawberries contain a high amount of salicylic acid, which is an important ingredient in today’s acne treatments. It helps open up clogged pores, lets the epidermis shed dead skin from the surface, kills bacteria and shrinks the sizes of pores.
Take 3 strawberries and mash them completely. Add two teaspoons of honey to it, and apply the mixture to your face. Let it sit there for half an hour, and then clean your face with warm water.
#5 Lemon juice
Lemon juice contains citric acid and Vitamin C, both of which help your skin get rid of pimples. It also acts as an astringent, which means it contracts your body’s tissues, thus drying the pimple completely. All you have to do is to apply lemon juice all over your face with a cotton ball, and then used the squeezed out lemons to rub over your face just like you would use a cotton ball to clean your face. Lemon also acts as a natural skin whitener.
Since all of these recipes are natural, their effects will be slow but effective. Try applying at least one of these masks or mixtures twice a week.
